Welcome to the October issue of Financial Insights and Updates.
With the weather warming up, and Christmas creeping up, it certainly feels like 2023 has flown past pretty fast. You may have come across the quote: “The trouble is, you think you have time”. We put off important things, assuming that we can do them later, but life often happens so quickly that before we even realise it, time has flown us by. Let the first month in the final quarter of 2023 serve as a reminder that we should not procrastinate, especially when it comes to the important things in life, including ensuring that you have made progress on the financial goals you had set for this year. This month we have included an economic update for the July to September quarter. Our article ‘Roadmap to retiring young’ provides a guide for charting a course towards retirement. Another interesting article is ‘Troubleshooting family finances’ which lists five important things to think about when it comes to handling family finances so you can keep your relationships and finances healthy and stable. As always, feel free to forward any articles to friends and/or family that you feel may benefit from the information. In signing off, please remember that we are always available to answer any questions or queries you may have and to come speak with us before making any major investment decisions.
Warm regards,
Alexander Kitchin, Stuart Engel, and Courtney Pearch[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Australia’s annual inflation rate has taken an unexpected step up, increasing pressure on the Reserve Bank to push interest rates higher and once again raising the prospect that Australia will fall into recession sometime over the next few months. The annual inflation rate for the year to August reached 5.2 per cent, up from 4.9 per cent recorded for the year to July, spurred by higher prices for petrol, financial services, and labour costs, following the 5.75 per cent wage rise for 2.4 million Australian workers in July.
